Dr. Azar starts with your history and what you want help with: where the pain is, how long it has been there, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already tried. If anything you describe should be looked at by a physician first, she says so, and our physicians are down the hall.
Then she treats. Most people describe the needles as a brief tap or a dull ache rather than a sharp pain, and many find the session relaxing. Before you leave, she tells you what to expect over the next day or two and how she would plan any further sessions.
