Why Tampa patients choose Lavena Health
Tampa patients come to Lavena for acupuncture because it is delivered by a board-certified practitioner in a medical clinic, at a published per-session price. Research summarized by the National Institutes of Health suggests acupuncture may help with back and neck pain and knee pain from osteoarthritis, and may reduce how often migraines and tension headaches happen. It does not replace a medical evaluation, and Dr. Azar will tell you when something should be checked by a physician first.
I had an incredible experience with the team at Lavena Health. The office was spotless, the staff was extremely professional, and they were so caring and supportive throughout my entire process. I truly felt heard and guided.
Amazing place! Dr. Saleh is a very patient and kind doctor. They really do help you achieve your goals, and it's honestly a very nice environment.
What your first acupuncture visit looks like
Your first visit starts with a conversation: what brings you in, your health history, your medications and what you hope to change. Dr. Azar then explains the plan before anything begins.
During treatment, hair-thin sterile needles are placed at selected points and left in place while you rest. Some plans use electroacupuncture, a gentle electrical stimulation through the needles. Afterwards Dr. Azar goes over what to expect in the next day or two and when to come back.
Acupuncture alongside your medical care
Because acupuncture at Lavena happens inside a physician-owned clinic, it can be coordinated with your primary care, weight-loss or hormone treatment on one team. Prefer cupping or Hijama? See cupping and Hijama in Tampa, or the full Eastern medicine page for every option and price.

Tampa acupuncture — common questions
How much does acupuncture cost in Tampa?
Acupuncture at Lavena Health is $125 per session, self-pay. That includes Dr. Azar's assessment, the treatment itself (acupuncture or electroacupuncture) and follow-up. There is no membership requirement, and we do not bill insurance.
What can acupuncture help with?
According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health at the NIH, research suggests acupuncture may help with several pain conditions, including back or neck pain and knee pain from osteoarthritis, and may reduce how often migraines and tension headaches occur. Evidence for many other uses is limited, and Dr. Azar will talk through what is realistic for you.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people feel little to nothing, because the needles are hair-thin. Many patients find the treatment relaxing.
Is acupuncture safe?
Complications are uncommon when acupuncture is done by a trained, licensed practitioner. Acupuncture needles are sterile and single-use, as the FDA requires. Tell us before treatment if you take blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, are pregnant, or have a pacemaker or other implanted device.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you are treating and how you respond. Dr. Azar will suggest a plan at your first visit and adjust it as you go, rather than selling a fixed package up front.
Can I do acupuncture by telehealth?
No. Acupuncture is hands-on and happens in person at our Temple Terrace clinic. Our medical services are available by telehealth: primary care for Florida patients, weight loss and women's hormone therapy across 40+ states, and testosterone in Florida, Missouri and Texas.
