ED programs from $75/month, self-pay: physician review of your medical history, a phone or in-office consultation (depending on your location and package), 24/7 messaging access to clinicians, and your medication. 150+ Google reviews, every one of them five stars
At Lavena Health in Temple Terrace, a physician evaluates the cause of your ED, reviews your heart health and medications, and prescribes sildenafil when it is appropriate for you.
How sildenafil works
Sildenafil belongs to a class of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. With sexual stimulation, it helps increase blood flow to the penis so an erection is easier to get and keep. It does not cause an erection on its own and does not increase desire.
How it is taken
Sildenafil is taken as needed, before sexual activity, and works over a shorter window than tadalafil. Your physician sets the dose based on your health, your other medications and how you respond.
Side effects and safety
The most common side effects in the FDA labeling include headache, flushing, indigestion, abnormal vision, nasal congestion, back pain, muscle aches, nausea, dizziness and rash.
Sildenafil and tadalafil must never be taken with nitrates (such as nitroglycerin) or with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat. They can lower blood pressure when combined with alpha-blockers or other blood-pressure medicines, and sexual activity itself carries some cardiac risk, so your physician reviews your heart health and medication list first. An erection lasting more than four hours, or sudden loss of vision or hearing, needs emergency care. See our erectile dysfunction disclosures.
When one medication is not enough
For men who need more than a single medication, your physician may prescribe a combination formula. Combination formulas are compounded by a state-licensed 503A pharmacy; compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed.
In person or by telehealth
ED treatment is available in person at our Temple Terrace clinic or by telehealth across 40+ states. Florida and Missouri patients are seen by Lavena Health physicians; patients in other states are cared for through our partner physician network.
