Hormone Therapy Disclosures

Last updated: October 2026
Who this applies to
These disclosures apply to women’s hormone therapy (including bioidentical hormone therapy) and testosterone therapy provided by Lavena Health, LLC, in person at our Temple Terrace clinic or by telehealth.
Labs first, at your physician’s discretion
- Hormone therapy starts with a baseline lab panel and a review of your history. Labs are billed separately.
- Treatment is prescribed only when your physician decides it is clinically appropriate. Not everyone qualifies.
- Ongoing lab monitoring and periodic visits are required to continue treatment.
Testosterone therapy
Testosterone is a federally controlled substance (Schedule III). The FDA-approved labeling includes warnings about blood clots in the veins, cardiovascular risk, increases in blood pressure, and abuse and dependence, and calls for lab monitoring, including red blood cell counts and prostate monitoring. Testosterone can lower sperm production and fertility. Your physician reviews these risks with you before prescribing.
Testosterone options are available in Florida, Missouri and Texas only, with more states being added.
Women’s hormone therapy
The benefits and risks of estrogen and progestogen therapy depend on your age, the time since menopause, your personal and family history, and the dose and form used. Using estrogen without a progestogen raises the risk of endometrial cancer in women who have a uterus. Your physician reviews your history, the medication guide and your options with you before prescribing, and re-checks your treatment over time.
Compounded hormones
Some hormone preparations are compounded by a state-licensed 503A pharmacy for you individually. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed. Your physician will tell you whether your medication is FDA-approved or compounded. See our partner pharmacies.
No guarantee of results
Responses to hormone therapy vary. No specific result is guaranteed.
